Anatomical Pathologist
Dr. Christina McCowan BVSc, BSc (Hons), PhD, MANZCVS (Feline medicine, Pathobiology) DACVP
Christina McCowan is a board-certified anatomical pathologist with a special interest in the pathobiology of ocular disease. She spent some years in general clinical practice, including her own mixed practice, before undertaking a PhD in neuroscience then pathology training. She works as a staff pathologist for the veterinary diagnostic and surveillance service of the Victorian state government and consults in ophthalmic pathology for a local commercial company.
Dr. McCowan is a fellow of the anatomical pathology section of the University of Melbourne Veterinary Clinic and Hospital where she contributes to student teaching, including offering regular training in ophthalmic pathology to both pathology and ophthalmology residents, and also enjoys supervising or assisting graduate students with their research. She is a member of the examining committee for the pathobiology chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and a reviewer for several scientific journals.
